Port-of-Spain, Trinidad & Tobago -- December 16, 2009 -- Two big soca tracks are hitting the airwaves across Trinidad and Tobago and the Caribbean on Thursday. Each signature Shurwayne Winchester hit promises to send music lovers in a frenzy, and with the season at its musical peak, there’s no denying that the tracks come at the perfect time.
For the chutney lovers, Shurwayne has teamed up with Bima. Their collaborative effort has borne fruit with a track called, “My Girl.” Described by the two-time Road March winner as a sweet blend of tones and a great mix of Arabian and Indian instruments, the track is on the middle of the scale ratio when it comes to speed. Shurwayne is excited about this one, as he says it’s been a while since the masses have been holding on to the East Indian flavour of “Don’t Stop.”
Now, in 2010, party lovers have themselves another chutney-styled hit that’s guaranteeing that slow, seductive Caribbean wine.
As if one release isn’t enough on one day, the team at SW Limited has decided to go against the odds, releasing what they refer to as “ the reminisce and feel” kind of track. That one’s called, “Jammaz!”
“ This one’s for the party lovers- the women who chip down the road with style on Carnival Monday and Tuesday and the fellas who love a good lime,” says Shurwayne. The vibe of the track is island-like and intrinsic. Once heard, it’s a guaranteed must- hear again!
With credit given to Shawn “ Da Mastamind” Noel for his production skills on Jammaz, Winchester says he’s happy with the way things have been going. “ There’s a lot to be thankful for this Christmas. It’s good to know that the people are enjoying the music we’re bringing.”
Never one to forget the less fortunate, Shurwayne and YOU have made appearances at three children’s homes across the country thus far, entertaining the kids and giving them much to smile about. For Winchester, these are the things that matter at Christmas time.
This week, he’ll be doing his shopping but unlike the shopaholics- he’s made it clear that there’s no stickin’. “ I’ll be in and out. I’ve already seen what I have to get.”
Now, if you’re wondering when the power monarch and Road March contenders are coming…,you gotta stay close to your radio because according to the folks at SW Limited, they’re down to the final touches!
