Port-of-Spain, Trinidad. January 26th, 2011 - You just know a hot song when you hear one. With soca music the energy penetrates even faster when it’s good.
T&T’s soca golden boy, Umi Marcano has teamed up with Tobago’s heartthrob, Tele Cruz in a sexy, melodic and steamy single called, Sail Away - one that’s almost guaranteed to bring attention. The pair met up at Cruz’s bar in Tobago sometime ago and decided that the time had come to stop procrastinating. For quite some time, they’d been speaking of collaborating on a track but the timing never seemed right. On their last encounter however, the guys decided to make a go for it and came up with the sizzling lyrics to a song that is gaining tremendous popularity on the sister isle and will more than likely, receive the thumbs up from the masses in Trinidad.
Penned by both Marcano and Cruz, the track was produced at Madmen Studios in Trinidad and mixed and mastered by Madman Yohan himself. Understanding the competitive nature of the business, both artistes have separately carried their weight, with Cruz having produced music over the past five years. In 2006, a track called Caribbean Affairs made it to the number three spot on the Caribbean Count down in Europe. The track featured well-known Swedish Pop singer, Maria Albayrak. Subsequent to that, Cruz offered another single in 2009 called, Material Tings, which featured Ward 1. The Groovy-soca single has since earned a place at radio stations from New York to Florida and around the Caribbean.
Cruz’s ambition to excel, keeps him going. Not only is this young man vocalizing his thoughts and dreams, but he’s also a model and entrepreneur, having opened a popular spot in Crown Point, Tobago called, Cruz Cocktail Bar and Bistro. For this season however, music is atop his agenda and with the confidence to match, there can only be big things on the horizon for Tele Cruz.
