Trinidad and Tobago!

One of the very first things that is apparent about my character and personality is simply the fact that I am a true embracer of my country's culture, its charisma, senationalism and sanctity. Trinidad and Tobago is not what it seems to be at a mere glance.

I left my twin island paradise back in 1999 to pursue educational emancipation. I flew to New York city where my mother was tediously ensuring that a home was prepared for me. For six years, I traveled back and forth between Trinidad and New York, with the aim that upon completion of my Bachelor's Degree, I'd be back home where I truly belonged.

At the end of 2005, I returned to Trinidad permamently. The years of two week trips that often turned into one month stays, was finally over and I was home to stay. What I realized during my time away, was simply the fact that we often take the things we love most, for granted. We seem to think that these things will always be there and in a matter of fact kind of intonation, we often... too often, set these things aside and show appreciation to other aspects of life that sometimes may not be a part of us... One of my aims, via this blog, is to draw people closer to T&T because I truly believe that this island has everything that can possibly be asked for. Yes, I will admit that of late, there has been an increase in crime and violence in Trinidad but why should the negative forbid the positive from being. There is crime and violence worldover ... if we allow these elements to be the deciding factors in the things we do, my friend, life will not be lived the way that it truly should. Here in T&T, we are blessed... We have been emancipated, made independent, even made a republic... We've discovered steelpan, soca and calypso music.... we've laid claim to the true Trini's breakfast... "doubles, " and we certainly have the mother of all carnivals.

Today and forevermore I will be an independent ambassador to my twin island paradise. When I meet you, I will greet you with love and affection from not only myself, but my brothers and sisters of T&T. I will encourage you to venture into our untamed lives... lives filled with midweek excursions to Maracas bay and Blanchisseusse... lives maintained by a bristly cold Carib when the heat scorches our backs... lives adorned with the sweet sounds of steelpan at panyard rehearsals in St. James and oh... lives filled with animated characters who dance their sorrows and burdens away as though they were non existent... you will live and enjoy the true life of a Trini!

Welcome to my blog.... It is called ET-CET-ERA because it will deal with not one, but many topics. I am a writer, broadcaster and general media personality and so, well... YEAH.. I've got a lot to say, but I want to hear from you to. Please respond with no hesitation and feel free to ask of anything you'd like to learn more about.

Much love and blessings to you!
