Jamaican Producer Says Shurwayne Winchester Just May be the Artiste To Bridge JA/ Trini Gap

Port-of-Spain, Trinidad. August 2, 2011------------- Shurwayne Winchester’s name has been bouncing from one Caribbean island to the next, in the past few weeks. The T&T Soca hit- maker’s been getting quite a bit of attention from his Caribbean counterparts lately. In fact Shurwayne’s been working alongside some of Jamaica’s finest artistes and producers, having flown to JA in early June where he collaborated on some very hot singles. His initiative has gotten the attention of many in Jamaica, with one producer saying that Winchester’s effort just could be what’s needed to bridge the gap between dancehall and soca music.

Today, August 2nd, the first of two tracks out of Jamaica was released. Producer, Justus Arison of JA Productions said it was great working with Shurwayne- something that happened quite by coincidence. “A friend of mine knows Shurwayne and said he was on the island. He brought him to the studio and he heard the riddim and immediately liked it. He started to vibe to it and before we knew it, we had the track,” said Arison.  The song, “ Wine On It,” is probably the raunchiest the world has ever heard Shurwayne Winchester- a signal that he just might be changing course. The track rides JA Productions’ Over Proof riddim and according to Arison, it’s all dancehall. In fact, it’s so much a dancehall riddim that artistes like Mavado, Beenie Man, Wayne Marshall, Daniel Bedingfield and Maka Diamond, among other Jamaican artistes, are on it. According to Arison however, Shurwayne’s track is wicked. “ He was great on the track, even though it’s dancehall,” he said. Arison also said he’s excited to work with the Trini artiste again, soon.

Think that’s it? Well, Shurwayne didn’t just stop at a track while in Jamaica. As insane as it may
sound, the “Paradisin” singer stayed in Jamaica and shot a video for the steamy single. That
video should be ready pretty soon as a rough edit of it’s being worked on at the moment. The
track has however been releasesd, hitting Apple iTunes first for purchase and then trickling
down to radio stations and other channels of media.  In Jamaica, Shurwayne also teamed up with one of reggae’s sons- Anthony B. They’ve collaborated on a single, which was produced by LCF Productions in Jamaica and is being mixed and readied for release in the days ahead.

Jamaica wasn’t the only place where hits were made though. In Barbados, in early July,
Shurwayne met up with Lil Rick and they too, collaborated- making good of a connection through Platta Studios where King Buba’s the man with the riddims.  That collaboration marked the start of the 2012 soca journey for Shurwayne. From that point forward soca hits will be coming left, right and centre according to the artiste and following a series of top-rated performances across the Caribbean, Berlin, St. John and even at the Global Fusion Festival in Philadelphia- no one should doubt that Shurwayne Winchester is about to turn it up in 2012.

THE BOOM CHAMPIONS PREPARE TO CELEBRATE 5 YEARS

Local media entity, Radio Vision Limited, some five years ago welcomed a new addition to the family. Brainchild and entertainment personality, O'brian Haynes established and nurtured what was initially, Rhythm City 94.1FM  and eventually distinguished the brand by calling it simply, The BoomChampions 94.1FM.

Strong, marketable and competitive in programming, the urban frequency which is based at 88-90 Abercromby Street, in Port-of-Spain has proven, in its five year life span, that with hard work, set goals and great ambition, anything can happen. In this short time, the station, which is seen as one of the more tech savvy, youth oriented frequencies, has managed to capture a large percentage of the urban market in Trinidad and Tobago, with radio programming that is entertaining, informative and healthy.

Great music, coupled with presenters and dj's who add spunk, style and charisma to each hour, in the past five years has seen the BOOM become a force to be reckoned among urban frequencies on the twin island republic.

This June, the BoomChampions celebrates 5 years of bliss. In the coming days, there will be many revelations about an event that most of T&T's party lovers will rush to attend. There's so much in the making they say, and with only five years behind their backs, and already with so much accomplished, the question is- how much more can there possibly be?
Rest assured though that with CEO O'brian Haynes at the helm, that question's already answered!

A Spankin New Video Will Re-Introduce A Carnival WINNER!!!

Smack in the center of the summer, one of the year’s hottest music videos will be released and will make its way into the homes of thousands, if not millions around the Caribbean and the world. Fan club members of www.shurwaynewinchester.com will see it first on Wednesday, June 17th though, guaranteeing a web induced buzz early on, and certainly meandering onward to the streets of Port-of-Spain, Arima, San Fernando and just about everywhere else on planet Earth.

Sounds a bit far fetched you think? Well, according to the urban crew- yes, the crew around town who’s been systematically shaping the ‘new’ Shurwayne Winchester and his spanking new band Y.O.U., the images that’ll come to life to match the words of 2009’s hit track, You, are out of this world, fitting the man who will be known in 2010 as the epiphany of Trinidad and Tobago Carnival.

Another E-Zone Entertainment/Militainment production, the video was produced by Lisa Wickham and directed by S*Felix and Lisa Wickham. The team has been working with Winchester since 2005.

“We made a concerted effort to create, style and build an on-screen persona and image for Shurwayne that could transcend to his stage performance, from his super hero character in ‘Dead or Alive,’ to the romantic image in ‘Don’t Stop,’ to his sexy on screen image in ‘Make It Yours.’ ‘You’ (Energy) merges the two, since it brings out the super action hero image and combines it with him as a sex symbol in the teaser at the end, ” explained the directors.

“In addition, the idea behind the video was to create a concept for a Carnival song that had a big cinematic feel and texture and demonstrated that soca videos don’t always have to be about jump and wave images.”

Both Whickam and Felix agree that Shurwayne is adventurous, adding that as an entertainer, he’s always willing to push the envelope and above all, has absolute trust in the team. The directors of this cutting edge new video, both say they feel proud of the work done, as the team was able to introduce new, unconventional shooting styles and angles as well as never before seen within the industry, on- screen special effects make-up.

As with everything he touches, Shurwayne Winchester’s band is quickly becoming an explosive unit of strength, vibes and energy and with a recently completed state of the art building that houses a studio and band room, the members of Y.O.U. all agree that nothing else but life is required to produce the hits for Carnival 2010 and beyond. Armed with his worldly online slogan, Go Green, Shurwayne Winchester is revolutionising the game, making things not just good, but damn good with every hit he brings.
