Shurwayne Winchester Among Invited Caribbean Celebs To Toast To Overproof Success

Port-of-Spain, Trinidad. October 22, 2011--------Some very big names in Caribbean entertainment will knock glasses this Sunday in Jamaica. The lone Trinidad and Tobago artiste among the specially invited guests is none other than Shurwayne Winchester, who also happens to be the only T&T featured on the dancehall riddim- The Overproof riddim.

The occasion for Sunday’s event is the official launch party for the JA Productions produced riddim on which artistes like Mavado, Beenie Man, Wayne Marshall, Bounty Killer and T&T’s soca rude boy, Shurwayne Winchester have contributed seamless hits. In T&T, Winchester’s single on the Overproof riddim, Wine On It, has been on the tip of everyone’s tongue. Many were shocked upon realising that Tobago-born Winchester was so effortlessly able to jump on the riddim, creating a frenzy of excitement among fans- especially those of the feminine persuasion.

The event, which is being held at Carlos CafĂ© in New Kingston, Jamaica will also be the launching pad for a brand new video that features Mavado and fellow artiste, Navino. The gathering on Sunday, which will feature the music of a slate of artistes including Shurwayne, reiterates statements made by JA Productions’ producer, Justus Arison in early August when Wine On It was released. Back then he’d joyously noted that Shurwayne would be the artiste out of T&T to truly bridge the gap between Jamaica and the soca loving island, and thus far, the airplay being enjoyed in T&T for both the Jamaican artistes and Shurwayne, is proof that Arison’s prediction was certainly on point. Shurwayne, commenting on receiving the invitation explained that while he would have loved to be there on Sunday, he would have to miss out on the fun this time around as a result of pre-scheduled engagements. He however assured that he is, and will continue to be in constant contact with the team in Jamaica.

Shurwayne Winchester- Lone T&T Soca Act To Perform At Global Fusion Festival Tomorrow

Photo: " Teeography"

Port-of-Spain, Trinidad. July 15, 2011------------- The fifth annual Global Fusion Festival is preparing for a monster performance from Trinidad and Tobago’s very own soca headlining act, Shurwayne Winchester. The festival, which dominates the entertainment circuit in Philadelphia for an entire week, kicked off on July 11 and will end on Sunday, July 17.

Winchester, T&T’s lone musical representative at the Global Fusion festival this year, will take
the stage on Saturday, July 16 along with Canadian R&B singer, Malanie Fiona and other
international musicians, many of whom may have never experienced the soca genre live, and will, for the fist time at this phenomenal event.

Other acts at the festival include British Grammy award winner, Estelle and U.S born Grammy nominee, Anthony David. Commenting on the opportunity, Shurwayne said, “Our mission is first enjoyment as we are doing something we love and then stamping positively who we are as a band, and where we’re from. It's great to be shoulder to shoulder with some of the greatest acts, on a stage of this nature and we’ll proudly represent our culture as we spread soca music to a global audience.”

Shurwayne recently left his mark in Germany when he performed at the Soca Twins’ birthday
bash in Berlin. He also erupted before audiences in St. John and Jamaica, leaving thousands with
a lasting impression of why he has been crowned the International Groovy and Power Soca
Monarch on numerous occasions. Supporters of Shurwayne’s music can eagerly anticipate his
vocals on a track to which a video was recently shot outside of T&T. The name of that soon to
be released single is “Wine On It”- a sentiment that will undoubtedly cast the “Paradisin” singer
in a different light, one that certainly goes against tradition. Beyond that, Winchester has
recorded a track on a new riddim out of Jamaica which also features artistes like Beenie Man,
Gyptian and Wayne Marshall.

Bunji Plans 'Big Time Show' for July Birthday In T&T!

An extraordinary event is in the pipeline for July 17th. Port-of-Spain Trinidad will on that night, experience a true celebration of life as local soca artiste, Ian Alvarez, better known by his stage name, Bunji Garlin, will throw the birthday bash of a lifetime.
Coined, Bunji Garlin’s Birthday Bash, soca stars from the island of the musical genre’s birth and many from across the region, will come together with dancehall and reggae’s best to give the people of T&T a truly thrilling stage show.

Already, local event coordinating powerhouse has been hired to ensure the masses come out and are treated to a professionally engaging event from venue to accommodation, ticketing to parking and sound quality among other specifics.

This time around, Garlin, who has amassed a tremendous following, both regionally and internationally over the years, has decided to splurge on what has become an annual event. Instead of the regular run of the mill club event, the self-proclaimed, ‘Fireman’ is calling all party lovers and fans of his music, to indulge in a truly memorable outdoor birthday bash experience.

A weekend-long schedule of activity is being planned for not just the stars who’ll grace the event, but also the people who, according to the artiste himself, “ has been my driving force and inspiration for many years.”

Among the lineup of stars set to be a part of the celebration is Jamaican sensation Busy Signal who this year collaborated with Fay Ann Lyons Alavarez on her hit soca single, Start Wining. The crowned princess of Soca and wife of the birthday boy has also come up with what many will agree is the best conclusion to the weekend- a Sunday night simmer at The Living Room Nightclub in Arima.
