THE BOOM CHAMPIONS PREPARE TO CELEBRATE 5 YEARS

Local media entity, Radio Vision Limited, some five years ago welcomed a new addition to the family. Brainchild and entertainment personality, O'brian Haynes established and nurtured what was initially, Rhythm City 94.1FM  and eventually distinguished the brand by calling it simply, The BoomChampions 94.1FM.

Strong, marketable and competitive in programming, the urban frequency which is based at 88-90 Abercromby Street, in Port-of-Spain has proven, in its five year life span, that with hard work, set goals and great ambition, anything can happen. In this short time, the station, which is seen as one of the more tech savvy, youth oriented frequencies, has managed to capture a large percentage of the urban market in Trinidad and Tobago, with radio programming that is entertaining, informative and healthy.

Great music, coupled with presenters and dj's who add spunk, style and charisma to each hour, in the past five years has seen the BOOM become a force to be reckoned among urban frequencies on the twin island republic.

This June, the BoomChampions celebrates 5 years of bliss. In the coming days, there will be many revelations about an event that most of T&T's party lovers will rush to attend. There's so much in the making they say, and with only five years behind their backs, and already with so much accomplished, the question is- how much more can there possibly be?
Rest assured though that with CEO O'brian Haynes at the helm, that question's already answered!

THE YOUTHS ARE READY TO STEP OUT FOR FIRE FETE, 2010!!!

As the first big event to take place on the dawn of Carnival 2010, the annual Fire Services Fete is shaping up to be far bigger than many would have expected. With a cast of over ten of the Caribbean’s hottest soca stars and emerging stars carded to perform on January 9th, the event which is appreciated world-over for being the big one to start it all, will in 2010, provide an atmosphere of enjoyment, far different from years gone by.

Iwer George, Bunji Garlin, Fayann Lyons, Grenada’s Tallpree, Shurwayne Winchester and his band YOU, along with Makamillion and the Millionaire family, Patch Denise Saucy Wow Belfon and Ms Alysha are ready to give what just might be, their true best on Fire Saturday!

Already, organizers have been embracing the overwhelming ticket sales at locations across the country, from Cache’s outlets to Fire Stations nationwide, and judging from the online network buzz, thousands from across the country will be heading down to Wrightson Road in Port-Of-Spain, on January 9th.

In 2010, Makamillion- a local event promoter turned crossover vocalist who has teamed up with the likes of Orlando Octave, Multisymptom, Nessa, Jade Lopez, Musique, Kerry John and Terri Lyons to bring The Millionaire Family into focus, will for the first time, perform live at Fire Fete.

The start of a new decade brings with it a rejuvenated vibe within the local carnival scene and according to organizers, it’s a decade that will welcome the offerings of the young and vibrant entertainers. Coupled with the experience of Iwer George, Shurwayne Winchester and even Bunji Garlin- those on the inside all agree that Fire Fete will be one of the best events to hit the season!

Bunji Garlin: “The Best Cast Was Chosen for T&T’s Fire Fete 2010”

The anticipation is definitely on as tens of thousands prepare for the start of T&T’s carnival season. At band rooms across the island, artistes and their musicians are rehearsing- preparing for the event they know will kick start their time of year, and certainly the fete lovers’ most anticipated time too!

Former Soca Monarch King, Bunji Garlin, chatting on the first big event to take place for the season said, “Soca is the music of the people and the best cast was chosen to represent the vibe of the people at Fire Fete 2010.”

He added that as far as he was concerned, the cast for Fire was chosen based on each performer’s true ability.

Bunji for one is certainly ready- having held on to the ‘fire man’ title, over the years. With hits this season that range from “No Borrow” to “Gaza or Gully,” and a hit collaboration with wife and band mate- Fay Ann Lyons, entitled, “Call Me,” there’s no denying that Bunji and his crew are a must-see at the annual Fire Fete.

The January 9th, 2010 edition of the event moves from its traditional Wrightson Road abode, to another hot spot further down as The St. John’s Hall will be transformed into “The Land of Flames.”

Already, momentum for Fire Fete is building on the street- even amid preparations for Christmas. On Facebook.com, the group- ‘ Blazing Fire Fete 2010”- has attracted a large number of eager patrons who, over the past week have received inside info on promotions and the cast for the show.

Many are already loving the fact that St. John’s Hall will host Fire Fete 2010- as they know the ambience will prove party friendly. There’s so much more to come but many say and most agree that the first fete, FIRE FETE- cannot be ignored, nor can it be missed!

Hot Spots in T&T... Have you been to the Attic?--- Shucks... Sabor Latino!!

Lol.... Ok, so it's no longer The Attic... back in the day, that's what it was though. Let me just say that this place is by far, the most "vibes invoking,"- if that's a usable term,- spot in Trinidad and Tobago.

As a lover of good music, good vibes, good energy and good company, I have to confess that Sabor Latino, located at Shoppes of Maraval is really the toughest spot for all mentioned above.

The place is small, BUT, it equates to perfection in partying, in that the DJ's who include The Candyman Dillan and DJ Ralf, always keep the tempo up and bring the music that the people know, love and enjoy. The bar at Sabor Latino is the bomb and not to mention the cutters that the kitchen serves.

Frequenting this spot are artistes in the local entertainment industry, sportsmen and women, radio personalities and even the regular man on the street who, if I must say are always kept in check thanks to great security at the club....

The party nights are: Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday ( Reggae Sunday--- the best I must mention!)

Come on, check it out, you won't regret it!
