Elated by the thought of her nomination in the category of Best New Artiste for the International Reggae and World Music Awards this year, Soca artiste, Buffy told the Guardian that her joy has been amplified by news that she is pregnant. The 24 year old Anything singer, in an exclusive interview, revealed that she recently found out that she is five weeks pregnant with her second child. Buffy, whose real name is Chrystal Bellille explained that the news of her nomination, which she received only two weeks ago, was like icing on the cake. “ I was very excited when I got the call from someone named Alexander from the awards committee, about two weeks ago,” she said. She explained that the official told her that the committee had been making every effort to contact her for the past two months but contact was only established when they got her number from Holy House Production's, Mr Spine. “I believe this will boost my career. After a kind of slow Carnival this past season, this news is just what I need to take my career to another level,” she said. Buffy believes the nomination will kick off her career once again adding that the award’s international status offers a lot for budding entertainers such as herself. Besides being nominated, Buffy is carded to present an award to one of the category’s winners on May 28. “I’ve also been asked to walk the red carpet and sing on the Sunday night,” she affirmed. The mother of a three-year-old daughter, the “expecting” entertainer told the Guardian that she believes the hosting of the IRAWMA here in T&T should be welcomed. “We watch these award shows on TV all the time and we sometimes say, ‘boy I wish I could be there,’ now many of us will be there, live,” she said with a chuckle. With a lot of work being done behind the scenes, news of her conception is not about to slow this entertainer down. “I have bookings for Boston and London for the carnivals there,” she highlighted, adding that with the support of her management team, which includes clothing sponsor, Eastern Avenue, she’s not about to falter. On awards night, fans of the artiste can expect the emergence of a true fashionista, according to Buffy herself. She told the Guardian that she is incredibly excited to walk the red carpet dressed like a star, after all an occasion like this does not occur everyday.
