T&T and the World, Get Ready for Khiry!

Port-of-Spain, Trinidad. November 6, 2011-------------The young and determined are coming forward with a level of will power to succeed in the soca industry than ever before seen. T&T and the world is being advised to get ready for the penetration of a young Siparia native who’s just about ready to turn things up in a very dramatic way. Khiry Flemming is 17 years old and he’s about to strike.

With a single called, Doh Ease Up, produced by Holy House Production’s Mr. Spine, Flemming who is still in fifth form at the Debe High School, South Trinidad, says he’s guaranteeing that this song will be a hit. With a humble but sure personality, Flemming believes the time has come for him to bite into the soca market and with that his goal ahead of C2K12, the youngster’s prepping for what’s to come.

Khiry’s no new comer, in fact he’s been around music since the age of seven. As a secondary school student, Flemming found himself involved in various school competitions and at the age of 13, his family, noticing his ability, decided to nurture and mould his talent. Khiry was introduced to Ashford Joseph and he was professionally trained vocally for the first time in his young life. It was only the beginning of what would come, as from that point, things took off and soon Khiry would record a gospel single and later a soca parang single he called, Whe De Parang Gone. He was only 13 years old.

Later, the young high school student would record a track called Wine On Me- a single that
saw him enter the Soca Star 5 competition in Trinidad. It was no surprise to those who knew
him when he made it to the final leg of the competition and while he was not crowned the
winner of Soca Star 5, Khiry saw the stage and the opportunity to perform before such a
massive audience in a brand new light- one that he would always want to be a part of. The
Soca Star experience afforded introductions to the greatest artistes in Soca, among them-
Machel Montano, Bunji Garlin and The Millionaire Family. He also met producer, Mr. Spine
who he has been working with in recent months. Describing working with Spine as exciting,
the youngster who idolizes Michael Jackson and looks up to Machel Montano as an artiste
with the greatest stage presence, said he too has been able to erupt on stage, in such a way that
people are often caught off guard. “ My personality off stage is very different from when I hit
the stage,” he admitted, referring to his on stage presence as explosive.

He’s had the opportunity to show off his ability following his Soca Star 5 appearance. I fact,
some might say that Khiry’s been doing big things. As the lead vocalist of a new band out of
Siparia called, Acktive Mindz, Khiry has performed for audiences on a numer of accessions at
Checkered Flag- a liming spot near Skinner Park in San Fernando. Additionally, Khiry and the
band performed this year at former Prime Minister, Patrick Manning’s fete on the hill.

These days though there’s strong focus on Doh Ease Up, a track which was written by Khiry
himself and is carded for release in the coming days. According to the youngster, it’s all about
one man relating an experience about a dance he had with a female at a club, to another. He is
certain that this song will sit well with music lovers of all ages. Aiming for the highest heights,
young Khiry Flemming says he will not give up, no matter the struggle. He is a believer in a
good fight to the end, and with that attitude, he is assuring that when he strikes in C2K12-
everyone will feel the sweetness of his sound.

Trinidad and Tobago's Syr Promises To Turn Things Up....

Port-of-Spain, Trinidad. October 31, 2011------------- He promises to stand out. He’s fresh and hungry to penetrate the Soca scene and at age 26, Syr (pronounced SY-ER) is prepared to give the feting public and even those who just like to chill out amid the hype, something to talk about. So confident is this San Juan, Trinidad native that he’s making it known off the bat that this is no hobby- it’s his career and as such, he’s not messing around.

A first taste of what Syr’s got was unleashed on Friday, October 28th. It's a single straight out of Holy House Productions and rides the Body Riddim of which well known local producer, Mr. Spine is owed credit. The track, which is called, Pon D Body is all about a young woman’s anticipation for the Carnival season, her eagerness to let loose and enjoy the local festival. Syr, whose real name is Wackele Williams explained that the track is all soca but boasts some dance and dancehall flavour.

With a keen ability to work with various musical genres, including reggae and dancehall, Syr who only started recording last year, says his first goal is to get the support of the radio stations. “ I need to get my music played, so it can be heard by the masses. This is no hobby- it’s what I do and I plan on doing it well enough, so that everyone appreciates it,” he said.  Looking toward the future, Syr admits that his focus is long term, so at the moment he’s
working on music that will be released outside local shores in January and in T&T even after
the C2K12 season has passed.

On the topic of artistes that he enjoys, names like Bunji Garlin and the Millionaire Family pop
up. “ I really like the Millionaire Family- there’s no surprise there. Syr admits that he is fond of
quite a few entertainers on the local circuit, among them Benjai, 3 Suns and FayAnn Lyons. He
didn’t shy away however from voicing his opinion on the Caribbean’s music industry, saying
that as a burgeoning artiste he feels there is room growth and improvement. “ There are so
many genres of music in the Caribbean and then so many sub-genres like Island Pop coming
out of Soca. It’ll be interesting to see how we utilise all of this musical greatness to show up
ourselves as one Caribbean people,” he said.

As it relates to his career, Syr is preparing to do things a little different because as he
explained- “in this biz, it’s all about who makes the strongest impact, regardless of genre,
island or style.”
Already, he’s doing it the right way, with professional standards being set as it relates to
business and image. Syr’s teamed up with popular urban fashion centre, Phat’s International
for all his wardrobe needs and his photos are all done by JHamilton Photography. “ The only
way this can work is if I invest in it and that’s what I intend to do- wholeheartedly. I now look
forward to the wholehearted support of the public at large,”he said.

T&T's Jade Lopez Comes Back Harder Than Before

Port-of-Spain, Trinidad. June 28, 2011-------------Despite the reality that local music in Trinidad and Tobago benefits less from on air rotation than that of foreign tracks, one T&T bred entertainer’s holding the faith and is optimistic that in this, his return to the mainstream market, he’ll receive the appreciation he deserves from all stakeholders of the local industry.

Jade Lopez is coming back to the fore. His honey-sweet voice has rested but not so much that practice sessions and small gigs have not been attended to. In fact, Jade’s been in the studio with local producer Mr. Spine of Holy House Production. They’ve worked together before and their chemistry has proven unbeatable. With four previous recordings in the bag, including Lopez’s Bum Bum, there was no hesitation when the option to work together once again, presented itself. In 2011, Lopez and Spine say they’ve created a masterpiece, a work of art that rides smoothly on Spine’s brand new Girlzaholic riddim.
The track entitled, Hot Gyal is just one of two tracks recorded by the 27- year-old artiste thus far, this year. It is however the most recent, and it is the track he hopes will create a buzz heading into the vacation period in the Caribbean.

For this young singer and songwriter, entertainment is embedded in every aspect of his life. He has done a great deal, including vocally supporting artistes such as Soca’s very own, KMC and Naya George. Lopez has also performed alongside the likes of Jamaica’s Ninja Man, Busy Signal, Alley Cat and T&T’s Ziggy Rankin, Prophet Benjamin, Denise Belfon and the Millionaire Family to name a few. Now, after a brief hiatus to better equip himself with what he felt was needed to prove his worth, Jade Lopez is back and he says he’s ready to shake things up.

Hot Gyal has already been released locally and plans are underway to further promote the track with the hope that a wide cross section of music lovers will listen, enjoy and help keep in on-air rotation. The song meshes a fun filled vibe with a great flow of lyrics, dynamic production and a keen melodic balance. With hopes that it will sit well with all the international hits that receive the love of the masses, Lopez is pushing hard, assuring that T&T and the world will soon realize that he’s much more than meets the eye.

Buffy's Ready for IRAWMA and...

Elated by the thought of her nomination in the category of Best New Artiste for the International Reggae and World Music Awards this year, Soca artiste, Buffy told the Guardian that her joy has been amplified by news that she is pregnant. The 24 year old Anything singer, in an exclusive interview, revealed that she recently found out that she is five weeks pregnant with her second child. Buffy, whose real name is Chrystal Bellille explained that the news of her nomination, which she received only two weeks ago, was like icing on the cake. “ I was very excited when I got the call from someone named Alexander from the awards committee, about two weeks ago,” she said. She explained that the official told her that the committee had been making every effort to contact her for the past two months but contact was only established when they got her number from Holy House Production's, Mr Spine. “I believe this will boost my career. After a kind of slow Carnival this past season, this news is just what I need to take my career to another level,” she said. Buffy believes the nomination will kick off her career once again adding that the award’s international status offers a lot for budding entertainers such as herself. Besides being nominated, Buffy is carded to present an award to one of the category’s winners on May 28. “I’ve also been asked to walk the red carpet and sing on the Sunday night,” she affirmed. The mother of a three-year-old daughter, the “expecting” entertainer told the Guardian that she believes the hosting of the IRAWMA here in T&T should be welcomed. “We watch these award shows on TV all the time and we sometimes say, ‘boy I wish I could be there,’ now many of us will be there, live,” she said with a chuckle. With a lot of work being done behind the scenes, news of her conception is not about to slow this entertainer down. “I have bookings for Boston and London for the carnivals there,” she highlighted, adding that with the support of her management team, which includes clothing sponsor, Eastern Avenue, she’s not about to falter. On awards night, fans of the artiste can expect the emergence of a true fashionista, according to Buffy herself. She told the Guardian that she is incredibly excited to walk the red carpet dressed like a star, after all an occasion like this does not occur everyday.

Holyhouse Unleashes the Honeybottle.

Holy  House Production is coming to cause it in 2011.

You’ve heard the name, and by now you’ve lapped up every melodic note of their contagious musical vibe, much of which has been recorded by the Millionaire Family. As Carnival 2K11 approaches however, producer extraordinaire, Mr. Spine says the time has come to open an avenue for a new group of youngsters.

With a brand new riddim and a brand new vibe, Mr. Spine on October 22nd, released the first of seven crossover Soca tracks, all of which are from new rising stars under the Holy House Production banner. “My mission is to create an avenue for as much youths as possible with proper guidance and good music,” said Spine.
In 2010, Spine unleashed several hits onto the scene, and with the taste of success still strong, he continues.
This time around, Smooth, Nessa, Nikky, Izac King, Royal, Ejo and Lunni Spark & Electrify- will start the 2011 season on the Honeybottle Riddim. “Their voices are all sweet, fresh and just what the industry needs,” said Spine. “ Their melody is sweet to the ear, like honey is sweet to the taste buds,” he added.

Spine has always been a strong advocate for local music. Having lent his vocals this past summer to a track called “Girls Time,” alongside Fadda Moses, the super producer who wears countless other hats in the entertainment world, knows what it means to be an artiste- the rigors of the job and the critique that often comes along with it.

“ I think growth is always good. New is always good the new is always unexpected so you never know what’s coming,” highlighted Spine and with a lot in the pipeline, this young entrepreneur’s got his eyes set on the stars.
Some major releases from a few international superstars in collaboration with local Holy House artistes are in the cards for the year ahead. Spine says he believes there’s strength in numbers and with that mantra a constant reminder of his initial goal- he says, “ If youths out there think they have what it takes, we’re opening our doors to them- email Holy House Production at holyhouseproduction@gmail.com.”

For now though, the buzz is strong when it comes to seven new tracks on the Honeybottle riddim. From Smooth’s “ Rude Wine,” to Nessa’s “ As Sexy as I Am,” Ejo’s “ Turn It Around,” Izac King’s “On Yuh” and Nikky’s “Rollin”- it’s safe to say, Carnival 2K11 is surely starting off on quite a sexy note- wouldn’t you say?
