Nadia Batson To Make TT History With All Female Band
Port-of-Spain, Trinidad. July 15, 2011------ There’s been nothing like it in Trinidad and Tobago. It’s an idea that’s fresh and filled with possibility. It has started off with one
Caribbean songstress and promises to unleash some eight to 10 beautiful and talented female musicians onto the music scene. Nadia Batson is the woman behind it all.
Come 2012, Carnival island will see the emergence of it’s first ever all-female soca band and according to Batson, the energy will be electrifying. The plunge, while somewhat daring comes at the right time, according to the Caribbean Girl vocalist.
Her idea?... to shake things up a bit, create a stir and showcase women in a way they’ve never quite been seen before. She wants to create a one of a kind product within the realm of T&T’s entertainment tradition and she’s going to use feminine appeal to do it just how she envisions. “ I’m about to launch a new band, with a new sound- fully powered by women!,” she laughed,
but Nadia is not kidding.
The recent circulation of news that a top entertainer out of Trinidad and Tobago was scouting for female talent in the form of vocalists, dancers and instrumentalists, came from Batson’s camp. On July 17, the final leg of auditions for all three categories of artisans takes place at the
Ken Galt room, Centre of Excellence in Trinidad.
According to Batson, the response has been tremendous. Her excitement is real and her ambitions are plenty as she looks forward to establishing a group of young, dynamic, impressionable women who are talented and are willing to share their talents with the world. “ This is not about Nadia Batson,” she said, “ It’s about showcasing a group of women who can thrill audiences with their talent, their

eccentricity and charisma. I want the members of this group to all be known and I want us all
to share the spotlight,” she said excitedly.
Even as auditions continue, Batson has already announced that the women of her new band,
whoever they will be- will be catered to by local and international stylists to ensure that every
stage appearance is mind blowing, creative and adds value to the show. Her aim is to offer a
top-notch stage production filled with creative dynamism, all with a touch of feminine appeal.
She says she believes this has been missing somewhat, and promises that she will be the first to
bring entertainment of this nature, to the stages of carnival events come 2012.
Batson said she will continue to fulfill all previously booked commitments with Kes The Band
and while she acknowledged the greatness of being a part of the group, she said she’s
confident that she can inspire a fresh sense of Caribbean flair to the region’s music circuit.
Information on the auditions carded for this Sunday, July 17, can be obtained by emailing

Sunpop Princess Krystal Khayne Steps Into Soca Spotlight-Makes Big Impression
Port-of-Spain, Trinidad. January 15, 2011 - Her sophisticated nature won’t stop her from generating a carnival buzz this season. R&B, Hip-Hop, Reggae, Techno and Dance music have all been done by T&T’s sunpop sensation Krystal Khayne, but as the island’s Carnival takes focus, the world had better prepare to experience the versatility of this super talented songbird.
Krystal Khayne’s vocals are presently being plastered from pillar to post alongside that of Umi Marcano in what is certainly the height of the carnival season. To many, this may be a bit strange as never before has the Belmont born vocalist ventured into the Soca spotlight.
On Sunday, January 9th, a single entitled, “Bring It” alongside Marcano, was released. The track, which was produced by Trinidad based Mad Men Productions is just a taste of what the young vocalist will offer for the high-energy season. Soon to come is yet another Soca collaboration with HD Family member, Zan. The track, which will be called “So Hot,” will be released within the next few weeks.
Khayne’s sudden leap into the soca spotlight wasn’t planned. She however felt the need to answer the call of her fan base. “Many people wanted to hear just how I’d sound, and even I was a bit curious to hear the final product,” she admitted. For Krystal – the girl who’s admired big name artistes like Whitney Houston Mariah Carey and Chaka Khan all her life, the decision to do ‘home’ was certainly a big one. She however knew it was necessary to show the Caribbean that no matter what, her appreciation for her roots, would never dwindle. “I had to show the world that I do have a strong appreciation for soca music. I love soca music. I love listening to it and ‘wining’ to it at parties,” she laughed. Krystal however prides herself as a strong R&B artiste. Having opened for John Legend on his visit to Trinidad in June 2009, Krystal’s talent immediately became known and embraced. Her vocal ability led to performances at the Tobago Jazz Festival last year and the Digicel Outta Conrol Tour shortly after that. Just after the New Years weekend, Khayne returned to Trinidad from Barbados where she lit up the stage at Carib Fest 2011. Now with all sights set on carnival, she’s turning up the heat, stepping onto the local scene with some very hot tracks that are guaranteed to make waves this season and well into the summer.
Currently, Khayne who works arduously at her craft is focused on the creation of three music EPs, which she explained, will be used to shop for international consumption in the months ahead. She explained that the EPs, which will fuse dance music with soca will be individually produced by three producers out of T&T, among them, the reputed Richard Charsu Ahong.
In the meantime however, she’s giving just a taste of what she’s got and what the world can look forward to, both in the carnival season and thereafter when her crossover hits are unleashed together with the her flavourful R&B, Reggae and Hip-Hop ballads her fans eagerly await.

Soca's Got a Brand New Son Named Marc!
Sexy vocals aren’t only for girls and it’s been proven.
From Kees Dieffenthaller to Shurwayne Winchester, Beres Hammond and Baron, Caribbean men have proven that their vocal pipes, when used well, can draw good attention and earn rave reviews.
Ahead of 2011, a new Caribbean voice is emerging.
A sweet, harmonious sound that’s capable of juggling genres but will make its official debut in the Soca season will come from Marc Mollineux- a corporate employee who’s ready to show just what he’s got.
With a track called “Get Ready to Fly,” Marc will unleash a new sound onto the market in just a few days. Produced by Richard ‘Charsu’ Ahong, the song’s melody meshes soca with an alternative vibe. For Marc, music has always been a possible career path but he’s always believed in the saying, ‘nothing happens before its time.’ For that reason, even though he’d been in and out of studios and among many of the respected artistes attached to the local industry, heexcercisedd patience, waiting for the right time.
‘Get Ready to Fly’ was one of many songs written by friend and fellow musician Andre Corbie. According to Marc, Corbie asked him to work with him on a demo track for the song.
“When I heard the lyrics and the melody, I immediately loved it and I decided to ask Andre for the track,” explained Marc, further revealing that he assured Corbie that he would make the song a bit more natural to suit his vocal tone and style. “I wrote the bridge after that and the rest is history,” he said.
Marc’s corporate background coupled with his passion for the arts make him quite an interesting person. He’s been a cast member in a number of theatrical productions, the most recent being the part of Jesus in the production, ‘Jesus Christ Super Star’. Marc’s been a winner at the Music Festival and during his 11-year tenure at Republic Bank he even won various talent spectaculars and calypso competition. With all that said, it’s no secret that Marc Mollineaux has been around.
Now, as he prepares to delve into the Soca market on a groovy ticket, Marc’s going all out. “I’m organizing a video for the track so that’s something people can look forward to in the weeks ahead,” he said. Already though, folks have taken a strong liking to the brand new vibe of Marc Mollineaux as he’s been booked for Gulf View All Inclusive and Bel Air All Inclusive parties in South Trinidad.
He said credit must be given to Fridge of H2OPhlo and local R&B songstress, Krystal Khayne who both did background vocals on the track. Marc also highlighted that Joey Rivers, formerly of Xtatic was responsible for the guitars heard in his music. All in all, he’s ready to erupt musically and with aspirations to thrill music lovers this coming season, Marc’s striking hard.

Denise ' Saucy Wow' Belfon Gives More Ahead of C2K11.
PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad - Soca is more than a hustle for one of T&T’s leading entertainment professionals. For Denise Belfon, known by her sobriquet, Saucy Wow- music is a craft that deserves continued attention, that the best end result can be achieved.
For the past two years, she’s laid somewhat low, having done only collaborations with artistes she respects in the industry. In 2011 however, Denise Belfon re-emerges hotter, lyrically stronger and fresher than ever before. Her matured seduction promises to entice, and her music promises to lure patrons, and with an aim to shake things up musically, she plunges forward, first with “ Dance And Dingolay.”
fellow entertainers, Blaax, Swappi and even Swappi’s brother, the group 645 among others, Saucy on her first release ahead of Carnival 2011, rides the Swahili riddim, produced by Andrew Phillip and Shac De Burg and mastered by ‘Mice’ at Champion Sounds Studio. The track, she says, is powerful, with an African vibe that injects a call to stand up, revel in the mas, the music, the thrill that is T&T’s carnival. Written by Belfon herself and Jason Bishop- aka Shaft, Denise says “Dance and Dingolay” took her back to her roots of Best Village where her home of Point Cumana became a fond memory.
“ It’s really a different vibe and I think this is a great first release heading in C2K11, considering what’s still to come,” she said.
During her two -year semi-hiatus, Denise Belfon says she felt her fans’ yearning and decided that the time had come, this year, to execute stronger than she had before. “I’m doing these projects for my fans to feel happy again- Carnival misses me,” she said.
Beyond this first release, Belfon- on an even more serious note, indicated that she thinks Carnival needs more activity for the children of T&T. “ I’m launching Poise on January 15th,” she hinted, explaining that the children’s mas band was created by her 9-year-old daughter Cassandra. The launch of Poise takes place on the Greens at the Queen’s Park Oval and will see the emergence of many bright, new, young faces. “ My aim is to offer children their own place in carnival, complete with their own music, mas, steelpan, everything.”
Already she guides her daughter Cassandra who she says will enter both the Junior Calypso Monarch and the Junior Soca Monarch competitions in C2K11. Additionally, a 13- year-old boy- Zebbi Williams and his two brothers have been under the protective guidance of the artiste and mother of four. Zebbi too, will enter both Junior Monarch competitions.
On her involvement musically, with the band Poise, Denise says her track, “More Love,” will consciously strike the right chord with the kids, and will be used as the band’s theme song.
For Denise Belfon, being an entertainer means more than bright lights and stage performances. It also means being able to lend support to those in need and help foster awareness via that celebrity. “I work with the Princess Elizabeth Centre in Woodbrook and I’m doing a benefit dinner and dance on December 12th at the Oval Ballroom for them, with all proceeds going toward the centre’s development. The venue was originally the Hyatt, but we were forced to change the venue. Entertainment will be provided by Roy Cape and Blaxx, Kenny J, H2OPhlo, Baron, Alison Hinds and Trini Barbie and there will also be a Fashion Show, executed by San Fernando based Du Rante Designs. I would like people to come out and support for the benefit of the children in need,” said the singer.
Amid these projects and countless others, Denise Belfon promises to give only her best. In an industry that is often highly critical, she assures that no matter what, her music and the things she becomes involved in, will always be a reflection of hard work and ambitious goals.

Holyhouse Unleashes the Honeybottle.
Holy House Production is coming to cause it in 2011.
You’ve heard the name, and by now you’ve lapped up every melodic note of their contagious musical vibe, much of which has been recorded by the Millionaire Family. As Carnival 2K11 approaches however, producer extraordinaire, Mr. Spine says the time has come to open an avenue for a new group of youngsters.
With a brand new riddim and a brand new vibe, Mr. Spine on October 22nd, released the first of seven crossover Soca tracks, all of which are from new rising stars under the Holy House Production banner. “My mission is to create an avenue for as much youths as possible with proper guidance and good music,” said Spine.
In 2010, Spine unleashed several hits onto the scene, and with the taste of success still strong, he continues.
This time around, Smooth, Nessa, Nikky, Izac King, Royal, Ejo and Lunni Spark & Electrify- will start the 2011 season on the Honeybottle Riddim. “Their voices are all sweet, fresh and just what the industry needs,” said Spine. “ Their melody is sweet to the ear, like honey is sweet to the taste buds,” he added.
Spine has always been a strong advocate for local music. Having lent his vocals this past summer to a track called “Girls Time,” alongside Fadda Moses, the super producer who wears countless other hats in the entertainment world, knows what it means to be an artiste- the rigors of the job and the critique that often comes along with it.
“ I think growth is always good. New is always good the new is always unexpected so you never know what’s coming,” highlighted Spine and with a lot in the pipeline, this young entrepreneur’s got his eyes set on the stars.
Some major releases from a few international superstars in collaboration with local Holy House artistes are in the cards for the year ahead. Spine says he believes there’s strength in numbers and with that mantra a constant reminder of his initial goal- he says, “ If youths out there think they have what it takes, we’re opening our doors to them- email Holy House Production at holyhouseproduction@gmail.com.”
For now though, the buzz is strong when it comes to seven new tracks on the Honeybottle riddim. From Smooth’s “ Rude Wine,” to Nessa’s “ As Sexy as I Am,” Ejo’s “ Turn It Around,” Izac King’s “On Yuh” and Nikky’s “Rollin”- it’s safe to say, Carnival 2K11 is surely starting off on quite a sexy note- wouldn’t you say?

SHURWAYNE WINCHESTER RELEASES POST ELECTION BLESSINGS.....PARADISIN!
He’s been extremely quiet following the hectic Carnival 2010 season in Trinidad and Tobago. Despite him being on the down low in T&T however, Shurwayne Winchester, the island’s crowned Groovy Soca Monarch champion, has been hard at work.
Making the journey from one island to another, Winchester and Y.O.U, have in the past three months ensured that the music they stole the season with in February was embraced by Caribbean people near and far, as the months tarried forward.
Now, just as the election fever in T&T has ended and even as many remain concerned about what lies in wait, the Tobago-born soca star is unleashing another perfect anthem in honour of his island and the people within.
"Paradisin," a track written by Winchester, is symbolic of what remains constant in Trinidad and Tobago. The people and the land and what the elements of each mean for the island’s continued strength within the Caribbean and even on a global scale, is well documented and added to chords and notes that reflect Shurwayne’s true capabilities, the world will sing praises to this genuine effort.
According to Shurwayne, the song, which was written some three years ago, depicts the beauty of T&T’s people and the island in itself, highlighting the traits of the men and women who make the island what it is. It also reminds the island’s people of what they have been blessed with- a culture, food, land and human nature that’s adored by millions around the world. With big plans in the pipeline for the next few months, even amid rehearsals, shows and new recordings, Shuwayne’s once again guaranteeing music lovers that the best is yet to come but even before the best is unleashed, Paradisin and the others that will follow are mere reminders of the very high standard he subscribes to.

Therapy Launches Car Show....
Youths in T&T and across the Caribbean are chanting to the beat of their respective nationalities more these days and this is due in part to the great music being unleashed to the masses from all islands. Not only has Jamaica penetrated the minds of Caribbean people but so has St. Vincent, Barbados and now, with the emergence of some very talented youths, Trinidad and Tobago is proving a force, too.
From the belly of the island’s central criminal point, Morvant Laventille- comes a young man who’s bent on eliminating negativity from his language, his way of life and that of his peers. Fresh and ready to take on anything, Therapy, real name- Hayden Peters, is this week unveiling another pivotal track that’ll soon prove essential to his overall elevation.
From the heat of the 2010 Carnival season in Trinidad and Tobago where he released, “Stand Up,” an outcry for the youths to take their lives in a different direction, he’s now relaxing a bit, in a bid to teach the youths and the older heads too, just how much positively engaging fun can be experienced in life.
“ Car Show,” his latest contribution to T&T’s local crossover genre is not only catchy, but the track, which was produced by Klase Gonzales of First Klase Production Studio in T&T, is easy on the ear, relatable and as mentioned above, creates an atmosphere of fun and enjoyment. Already, Therapy has aligned himself with a local car-show promoter to ensure his song penetrates the masses at the namesake event.
With the help of his management team and local publicity firm, ET-CET-ERA The Company, the artiste is bent on taking his music beyond radio stations, but also into regional venues and certainly the advertising market. Coupled with his strong intent and the support of the promotional entity who will on Saturday, May 1st and Saturday May 8th, host Cars Reloaded in St. Helena, Trinidad and Extreme Machines in Malabar, respectively, the journey to great musical accomplishment is certainly underway.

By the end of this week, everyone will be humming, whistling and even skipping to a new beat.T&T’s Carnival 2010 experience brought to the fore, the entourage of Millionaires who rolled onto the scene chanting to the beat of HolyHouse Productions’ 747 rhythm. Led by the young but well known, John-Michael Alibocus of Millionaire Family Entertainment and Holy House Productions, Mr. Spine- Orlando Octave, Kerry John, Musique and Nessa penetrated the airwaves with their collective offering for the season. On the heels of their dynamic debut as the Millionaire Family, the team of young, passionate superstars are at it again, this time though, with a couple of additional vocalists!HolyHouse Productions at their side, the six soulful vocalists joined by new Millionaire Family member, Ras Pilot is set to release his track on Mr. Spine’s latest offering to the industry, The ZIP rhythm. Additionally, soloist, Terry Lyons lends her vocal thrust to the rhythm, in a track that Spine assures, the masses will truly enjoy.
Calling this one a crossover sound between reggae and R&B, Spine says the ZIP rhythm and the lyrics that accompany, will engage the young audience like nothing else has in recent times, as it tells a story, and hops from one artiste to another. “It’s like the R Kelly/ Mr. Biggs scenario,” explained Spine, adding that a video for the story is currently in the making. Two of the tracks on the rhythm are Octave’s, “Hustle” and Makamillion’s, “Daddy Please,” with the other tracks all said to be exactly what’s yearned for by today’s music lovers. Mr. Spine, the prominent young producer of Holy House productions says Operation “Zip” was designed by his outfit to symbolise the closure of one thing and the beginning of another.
He says, “ It’s basically about moving from one chapter to the next while stepping completely out of the box and leaving what is known as the norm, behind. I think the ZIP project will be refreshing to listeners and viewers of the video that follows, as it’ll showcase the versatility of the artistes. It’ll also show the world the enhanced vision of our local musicians.
The team is hard at work and with HolyHouse Productions throwing out the rhythms, there’s no doubt that the Millionaire Family is heading to the top as one synchronised body of talented vocal enforcers.

Shurwayne Gives Them Murdah!

It’s started…
The world has been awaiting a musical awakening and this coming Carnival 2010, the world will be fulfilled, satisfied, and everyone will crave more.
In the prelude, the masses are being equipped with a teaser, in the form of ‘Murdah,’ a Shurwayne Winchester track that has already taken Barbados by storm. In this, the release of the upbeat, sexually enticing, winer friendly rhythm, Winchester offers the vocals while Bajan Producer, Dwain ‘Dwaingerous’ Antrobus offers the beats that enforce and allows for a great final product.
The track has been produced with Barbados’ crop over festival in mind, as Winchester and the band Y.O.U. remain on course to becoming the next big Caribbean and by extension, world phenomenon, in 2010. The SW and Y.O.U. link fits just right and many who’ve seen their act, just can’t seem to get enough of the band whose humble demeanor does no justice to the greatness that’s executed time and time again. Pushing forward, the three- time Road March king of Trinidad and Tobago refuses to slow down as he gives you ‘Murdah’- a taste of what’s to come, in only a tiny bite.
