Kern Rose Beefs Up His Resume- Fashion Designer & Artiste Now Added!

Port-of-Spain, Trinidad. December 9, 2011---- Kern Rose is no new face. He’s been around and he understands the ins and outs of the entertainment world. Now, he’s making some very big statements ahead of Carnival 2012 in Trinidad and Tobago and anyone who believes he doesn’t have the gumption to make it all happen, better think again.

As one of T&T’s leading video directors, the young creator says he’s about to cause a tumultuous stir in the weeks ahead as he launches a number of things, one of which is
something called Fashion Marshon.

The name may sound a bit strange but one opportunity to see inside the mind of Kern Rose would ultimately lead to a greater understanding of his vision. The young entrepreneur is going full speed ahead, launching his very own clothing line which he’ll call Fashion Marshon- the second part of the name being a new sobriquet he’ll give himself as the season ultimately unfolds. “ I’m currently in the process of developing the line with popular young urban designer, Fashion Dandy and it’ll be all about
the entertainers and other industry peeps,” said Rose. He said the aim was to make local entertainers stand out and be seen for that which they are- unique, stylish and a cut above the rest. Rose also plans on launching his website to the world on December 15th- something he assures will be a one of a kind platform for many in the Caribbean diaspora. “Nothing like this has ever been done,” said Rose, refusing to let the cat entirely out of the bag for now. He assured that it would be something that many would be intrigued by and urged entertainment practitioners and others who enjoy Caribbean entertainment, to keep their ears and eyes peeled to news of the industry as the date draws closer.

On a third leg, Kern Rose is putting his voice to work. Get this… in 2012, Kern Rose will officially be an artiste. Not only is the young professional changing his name, but he’s planning something called the Marshon Take Over which will essentially start with his first ever soca release ahead of C2K12. “ The track is called, Wifey Less and it was produced by London Future,” explained Rose. He noted that Future was well known for creating mega hits for Trini male-duo Nebula 868, among their tracks, Amped Up and Words Can’t Explain. What’s even more impressive is the fact that Rose has rested the mastering of his track in the highly capable hands of Precision Production- a team best known for their work with artistes such as Machel Montano, Destra Garcia and even Kees.

The year ahead promises to see great things out of Kern Rose’s camp. He’s highly motivated and willing to take the necessary risks to make everything become reality. He has the mind of a winner and the heart of a champion so when he says, “I’m doing it!,” you had better believe that it will be done.

No Pressure Billed to Be Nadia Batson's BIG Groovy Single

Frontline vocalists of SASS Megan Waldrond and Queen SASS, Nadia Batson
Port-of-Spain, Trinidad. November 17, 2011-----------Nadia Batson's not about to miss a beat as the season of revelry in Trinidad and Tobago unfolds. The heightened level of intensity is owed to her strong yearning to give only the best of herself and her band SASS, in C2K12 and beyond.

On the heels of the band's launch last Wednesday, November 9 at Anchorage, Batson on Thursday, November 17 released a single she had been perfecting for weeks. No Pressure was produced by Martian Music and mastered by GBM Productions out of NYC. " This one is for the ladies- We don't want no pressure!", said Batson who wrote the track herself.  Its groove is melodically enticing, soothing on the ear and uncompromising on the waistline's all round agenda. Every woman will love No Pressure, according to Team SASS!

Online, the Buzz has been wild for Nadia Batson. In 2011, she told the media that she was doing everything for the people of Trinidad and Tobago. She'd performed twice at the International Soca Monarch Competition with fellow artistes, Tallpree of Grenada and Patrice Roberts of the HD Family, and even then, a very humble, low-key Batson, told reporters that it wasn't about winning- it was about doing the best that she could.

2012 is proving to however be a different dynamic. In the season ahead, Nadia will prove herself further- being the first bandleader of an all-female soca band out of Trinidad and Tobago. She's on a natural high and her music is proof enough. No Pressure has been released to radio stations across the length and breadth of T&T and overseas. She's hoping that with the help of her loyal supporters, this track- 'her pet track'- will be as huge as recent releases. This is Batson's fourth release for the season. It follows her hits, Whey Yuh Want with Lyrikal, Hard Pong with Raymond Ramnarine and Shiver on the Antilles riddim.

Rave Reviews for SASS!!!

Port-of-Spain, Trinidad. November 11, 2011-------Everywhere you turn in T&T, the word SASS seems to be popping up!

Soca sweetheart Nadia Batson launched her all female soca band on Wednesday evening in Trinidad to the media. The launch was held at Anchorage in Chaguaramas and Batson got the opportunity to breathe after months of anticipation. She showed off her frontline ladies Terry Lyons and 21-year-old Megan Waldrond and showed that SASS would be just what's needed in the growing Soca industry.

Batson says she plans on showcasing that talented women in the Caribbean can rock any stage around the world and starting in C2K12, the lady who has given us countless hits, some personally sung and others merely composed, plans on proving her point.

Check out a little of SASS in action on Wednesday, November 9th, 2011 courtesy footage captured by www.islandmix.com.

T&T Get's It's Very Own Wen'D- Down To Earth & Culture Driven

Port-of-Spain, Trinidad. October 27, 2011-------------T&T’s getting its very own
‘Wen’D’- a fearless, energetic talk show host who promises to take local culture and arts to its pinnacle of success. Starting on November 5, Wendy Lewis will take over Saturday nights with her brand new one-on-one programme she’s dubbed, “Down To Earth With Wen’D.” Set to air on CNC3 in Trinidad and Tobago, the premise of the half hour long show is centred on straight talk in real life situations with icons and persons of prominence in local society. “ This won’t
be the regular run of the mill culture show, I assure,” said Wen’D, expressing her determination to make the first 13 episodes, which will run into Carnival Saturday- a riveting, eye opening television experience.

With sponsors that include Courts, designers- Heather Jones, Claudia Pegus, Dexter Jennings
and Andrew Weekes, Sasha Cosmetics, Creation Designs, the NLCB, American Airlines,
Statement Limos and CNC3, the show is being promoted with the highest of confidence.
“Interviews with artistes, carnival stakeholders, radio personalities and certainly after carnival-
politicians, entrepreneurs and religious figures will take shape based on issues of current appeal
but with a very laid back, comfortable effect. We’re making this an off- set, real view of
society’s prominent figures with somewhat of an international flair, something that has never
quite been done to the standard at which we’re aiming,” said Lewis.
Each episode will be filmed by 2 Tones Productions at locations frequented by her guests – whether it be at their homes, gyms, offices or even at the corner hot spot where the vibe is right. Whichever way, Wen’D promises she’ll be there to get the news, views and even the sudden outbursts of those
who’re often considered to be role models in Trinidad and Tobago.

With a launch date set for November 4,
plans for a hit series are well underway. It’s title,
“Down To Earth With Wen’D” epitomises the realistic approach the show’s
producers are guaranteeing. Following the 13 episodes being filmed during the Christmas and upcoming Carnival 2012 seasons,
Lewis assured that planning has already begun for guests outside of these culturally festive periods. “ No one will be left out. We’re touching everyone of prominence with an eye towards getting the ‘real’ feelings, emotions and characters of these people. Too often we see persons of prominence on television or on stages and we’re left bewildered by their larger than life personas. It’s time we got down to the nitty gritty. It’s time we made these people tangible- relatable,” she emphasised.

The show will air on Saturdays at 8pm with a repeat each Tuesday at 5pm on CNC3.
According to Lewis, the concept was considered upon recognising that there was a lack of
televised local content in a well- packaged, internationally produced format. “ Our icons are
dying and we’re being left without an account of their history. We need to fix that and it starts
with Down To Earth With Wen’D,” said Lewis.

ABOUT WENDY LEWIS:

Wendy Lewis is the CEO of Khalabash Entertainment & Promotions- an artiste and event
management company based in San Fernando, Trinidad. She is also the former CEO of the
Trinidad and Tobago Entertainment Company. Wendy’s career in artiste management in
Trinidad and Tobago spans 22 years, having worked with a number of accomplished
entertainers, among them General Grant, Inna Visionz soca band which included lead vocalist
Kerwin Du Bois, Terri Lyons in 2008, and she now manages Heaven ‘Snakey’ Charles- an
artiste she attests to being one of the most underrated entertainers of this time. A passion for
culture and the arts in T&T presents Wendy as a person with an insatiable thirst to expose and
promote everything beautiful that lies in T&T. As such, her new calling allows for yet another
opportune moment where she will more than likely impress while garnering success for self
and the industry that she so loves.

Nothing Will Stop Her- Nadia Batson's Making It Happen!

Port-of-Spain, Trinidad. October 25, 2011------Well who would’ve thought! Nadia Batson, Raymond Ramnarine and the Dil-E-Nadan crew are dishing out something that’s guaranteed to send party lovers wild ahead of Carnival 2012. This, even as T&T’s soca
sweetheart is putting the final touches on preparations for the launch of her all-female soca band on November 9th.

A promo for the band, which will be known as SASS, has already gone viral and is  creating a bit of a stir ahead of launch date but even with that happening, Batson’s indisputably strong work ethic keeps her focused on this latest release alongside the Dil-E-Nadan band.

The sweetness of the spanking new single they’re calling Hard Pong, lies in its melody but with
lyrics to match the track’s melodious output, the song which was produced by Shaft Vibes
Entertainment and recorded at Backyard studios, will, by all indications be placed on heavy
rotation in the weeks ahead. Much like the promo video for the new band, Hard Pong has also
gone viral, hitting social networking sites, Facebook and Twitter on October 20. Many are
speculating that Batson will have a very successful 2012 season as her name seems to be
popping up everywhere, even on television, where she forms part of Synergy TV’s Soca Star 7
judging panel. Additionally, her collaboration with U.S. based soca artiste Lyrikal on a track
called Whey Yuh Want has been making the rounds and there’s also word that she’s got a
single on the Antilles riddim alongside Machel Montano, Kerwin Dubois and others that’s
guaranteed to make the ladies move.

Nadia Batson’s journey in entertainment region-wide has certainly made her one of the most
respected female singer/songwriters in the hemisphere. Her attitude is that of a go-getter and
for that reason she assures fans and supporters of music in general that 2012 will only be the
beginning of Soca’s list of greatest accomplishments- this as she seeks to offer something truly
dynamic and revolutionary. “ This is only just kicking off. I have so much to deliver to the
people and I’m so excited to do that,” she said enthusiastically. Her new lease on life these
days is owed primarily to the joy she foresees in being able to truly please the people of T&T,
the region and internationally- the way she feels they deserve to be pleased-with great music,
spectacular showmanship and lyrical appeal that goes beyond the ordinary. A look of what’s to
come from the ladies of SASS can be viewed on Facebook, Twitter and certainly YouTube.

November 9th  however promises to be a date everyone will be talking about for months
thereafter.

Here's a sneak peak of what's to come:

Trinbago's Daddy Chinee Strikes Hard With Techno Soca

Port-of-Spain, Trinidad. October 5, 2011 - When was the last time you heard a soca artiste say his/her aim is to entice people all year round, no matter race or culture? It’s a big statement that’s receiving the backing of a group of producers out of the United States and before long, the artiste on the other end of those words will reveal himself via his music, to the people of T&T and the world.

Ricardo Melville is best known by his sobriquet, Daddy Chinee. He’s a gifted cross-over artiste who was born in Speyside, Tobago but now resides in South Trinidad. He’s been on the grind for sometime, having worked alongside the likes of Crazy, Scrunter, Chris Garcia, Impulse and Rikki Jai, just to name a few. After a 10- year hiatus from the soca biz, Daddy Chinee’s back and is promising music lovers that his unique fusion will leave them intrigued and excited. He’s got the experience having performed with a number of soca bands before. “ I performed in bands like Sound Revolution, Roy Cape and the All Stars, Dil-E-Nadan, Jah Vibes and Kylan. Currently, I have my own band- The Daddy Chinee band which was formerly known as Hipnotic,” he reveals.

A very motivated entertainer and vocalist, the man who started off chanting near his home with friends, has dabbled in not just the soca genre but, he’s also done chutney, Rhythm and Blues, Dancehall, Reggae and Traditional Parang music. With the experience and talent to take things further now, Daddy Chinee says he’s gearing up for a re-emergence in Carnival 2012. “I’ve already released two Soca tracks- “Drop To The Ground,” and “Ah Coming,” he reveals, highlighting that the tracks were produced by Ato “Hisbigness” Williams of Triple B Studios. Added to that, the vibrant singer is about to send a single he’s calling “Trinidad Party” to local Dj’s and radio stations. This particular song has tremendous appeal as it fuses Techno with Soca to create a really rhythmic sound. Members of his team are guaranteeing that this particular single will sit perfectly with all music lovers- even those who may be a little on the conservative side. In the meantime, Melville is dedicatedly working toward the completion of his album, which he’s calling The Journey Continues. The album will also feature fellow artistes Impulse, Miz Estrada and Silver.

On the issue of what seems to be a continued mission to fuse Soca with other genres like dancehall, R&B, Pop and certainly Techno, Daddy Chinee says he’s all for it, as long as the people do not forget the heart and soul of Soca music.

With an undying love and appreciation for his culture, and music in general, a mission that began some 20 years ago has been revitalized. His sights are set on mastering the art form that is Soca and captivating audiences like no other ahead of the spirited season.

In 2011, as the island prepares for another Carnival celebration, Daddy Chinee is promising that he will shake things up with some of the most enjoyable music the world has ever heard.

Fans Call for More S.W. Music, Even in S.O.E.

Even amid the ongoing State of Emergency in T&T, music lovers are holding firm to the beats of their favourite entertainers, especially those who are preparing for an emerging C2K12 season in T&T. Daily, one Caribbean entertainer is motivated by his online group of supporters to keep the music pumping
On Tuesday, August 30, Shenae Enn sent the message seen up top, to Winchester. Little did she know   how much of boost  her two lines of motivational words would be for the artiste who, even having won numerous titles over the years, keeps his ear to the ground and prays for the acceptance of the masses in the prelude to carnival each year.

Already, Winchester has delivered two slamming hot tracks. "Wine on It" on the Overproof riddim proved to be a creeper that has certainly proven itself in recent weeks, while "Harder" on King Bubba's Rich Boy riddim is first class, according to real music lovers.
Ahead of C2K12, Tobago born Winchester is calmer than in recent years. His presence in the industry over the years has taught him quite a lot and as he prepares for yet another season of revelry in T&T, Shurwayne's getting set to deliver his unique blend of music to those who will truly understand what he stands for- that being the preservation of T&T's culture and the development of the soca genre.

As for the S.O.E. currently being experienced on the island, Winchester's passing his time in the studio.  He's promising to release another single in the weeks ahead and there's no doubt in the minds of those who know him best that he will deliver! All he asks is for his supporters to keep doing what they're doing...requesting the music wherever they can, so that he can perform for them in the heat of the C2K12 season!

Soca's Got a Brand New Son Named Marc!

Sexy vocals aren’t only for girls and it’s been proven.

From Kees Dieffenthaller to Shurwayne Winchester, Beres Hammond and Baron, Caribbean men have proven that their vocal pipes, when used well, can draw good attention and earn rave reviews.

Ahead of 2011, a new Caribbean voice is emerging.

A sweet, harmonious sound that’s capable of juggling genres but will make its official debut in the Soca season will come from Marc Mollineux- a corporate employee who’s ready to show just what he’s got.

With a track called “Get Ready to Fly,” Marc will unleash a new sound onto the market in just a few days. Produced by Richard ‘Charsu’ Ahong, the song’s melody meshes soca with an alternative vibe. For Marc, music has always been a possible career path but he’s always believed in the saying, ‘nothing happens before its time.’ For that reason, even though he’d been in and out of studios and among many of the respected artistes attached to the local industry, heexcercisedd patience, waiting for the right time.

‘Get Ready to Fly’ was one of many songs written by friend and fellow musician Andre Corbie. According to Marc, Corbie asked him to work with him on a demo track for the song.

“When I heard the lyrics and the melody, I immediately loved it and I decided to ask Andre for the track,” explained Marc, further revealing that he assured Corbie that he would make the song a bit more natural to suit his vocal tone and style. “I wrote the bridge after that and the rest is history,” he said.

Marc’s corporate background coupled with his passion for the arts make him quite an interesting person. He’s been a cast member in a number of theatrical productions, the most recent being the part of Jesus in the production, ‘Jesus Christ Super Star’. Marc’s been a winner at the Music Festival and during his 11-year tenure at Republic Bank he even won various talent spectaculars and calypso competition. With all that said, it’s no secret that Marc Mollineaux has been around.

Now, as he prepares to delve into the Soca market on a groovy ticket, Marc’s going all out. “I’m organizing a video for the track so that’s something people can look forward to in the weeks ahead,” he said. Already though, folks have taken a strong liking to the brand new vibe of Marc Mollineaux as he’s been booked for Gulf View All Inclusive and Bel Air All Inclusive parties in South Trinidad.

He said credit must be given to Fridge of H2OPhlo and local R&B songstress, Krystal Khayne who both did background vocals on the track. Marc also highlighted that Joey Rivers, formerly of Xtatic was responsible for the guitars heard in his music. All in all, he’s ready to erupt musically and with aspirations to thrill music lovers this coming season, Marc’s striking hard.

Funtime's on the Agenda Courtesy Mr. Fridge and Tobago's KK

Slow, melodic and perfect- three words that describe the brand new joint hitting the streets of Trinidad and Tobago, the region and certainly internationally, in the next few days.

Get ready for “ Funtime” by a collaborative entity that has amassed tremendous respect over the years. Jason Seecharan, better known by his sobriquet, Fridge of H2OPhlo, teams up with a Tobagonian brother known simply as KK.

Together, the pair has written and laid vocals for the track, which can only be described as a fun-enhancer- a groovy hit that the world will be swaying to. Richard Charsu Ahong is also credited with penning lyrics for the track, which is produced by C.J. Perez.

Fridge who’s known for some of the sweetest soca and R&B inspired songs shows his strength as an artiste once again as Carnival 2011 rears its head. For three minutes and forty-eight seconds, both he and Tobago’s son, KK offer visitors to the island a taste of just what T&T and other islands of the Caribbean have to offer.
Encouraging party lyrics immediately pull any listener into the vibe of Carnival, leaving anyone ready for the Greatest Show on Earth.

The track’s groovy nature allows for people of varying countries to listen and understand while visiting T&T for the festive season. According to the duo, the music epitomises the sweetness of what the Caribbean as a whole, truly offers to the world at large.
Funtime is a feel good track inspired by the beauty of Carnival and in little to no time, the masses will be singing along to the rhythmic sweetness.
